Chemical Engineering at Penn State

The Department of Chemical Engineering at The Pennsylvania State University has a proud tradition of scholarship and teaching that began with Professor Merrell Fenske, the first Head of our Department and a pioneer in the technology of distillation.

Under the guidance of succeeding department heads, we continue to remain highly diversified in each of the major sub-disciplines of chemical engineering. Our current strengths are in biomolecular, computational and nanoscale engineering.
